The wonderful history of StarbucksStarbucks started in 1917 with one store in Seattle's Pike Place Market. Ever since the opening of that one store they have basically been revolutionary in the world of coffee. Their extremely recognizable logo and name comes from a mixture of the first mate in the book Moby Dick and a Greek mythological creature. Today they have over 18,000 retail stores in over 60 countries. 11 years after their first store opened, Howard Shultz joined Starbucks and the brand started providing coffee in restaurants and espresso bars. Soon after, Howard travels to Italy and is impressed by how coffee in incorporated into their culture and works on instilling this culture within their own coffee. In 1990 Starbucks decides to headquarter in Seattle when they had a total of 84 stores. In 1992 Starbucks completes a initial public offering, making them a public company with stock trades. From there, Starbucks took off with advances in their plants, drink options, bottled product and a leader in the mobile world. (Starbucks.com) |
WHY DO PEOPLE CHOSE STARBUCKS?
Starbucks made a very interesting quote on their website, "Why do they insist on Starbucks? Because they know they can count on genuine service, an inviting atmosphere and a superb cup of expertly roasted and richly brewed coffee every time." (Starbucks.com, 2012) Not only is it their atmosphere but it is also do to a serious instillment in their brand meaning and position. Starbucks brand meaning is to provide their customers with a high quality product and also a completely enjoyable customer experience. Their position in the coffee world is innovative and has not been emulated by any other coffee company. They put a HUGE emphasis on the experience of their customers and this is something that no other company has been able to do to the degree that Starbucks has. Competitors- Starbucks major competitors are McDonalds Corporation, Dunkin Brands Group Inc. and Nestle S.A. Each one of these competitors brings something different to the world of coffee |
Why Did I Chose Starbucks?
Like many people I enjoy a Starbucks drink probably too many times a week in
the midst of my busy schedule. I enjoy their environment and everything
that they stand for. On more then one occasion Starbucks had taken more
than (they thought was) enough time to deliver me my drink. I thought
nothing of it because the coffeehouse was pretty busy but they did not
seem to think it was acceptable. They gave me multiple free drink tickets
and because of this experience I have trusted them and become loyal ever
since. Even if they do mess up they want their customers to know that
they are trying their very hardest to succeed. Not to mention they are
one of the top companies in the mobile communication world.
